Who can get a library card from Hagerstown Jefferson Twp Public Library?

Almost anyone. A variety of different cards and account types are available based on where you live. To apply for a library card, you will need to provide proof of residency as well as a completed application form. View acceptable proofs of residency.

  1. Green Card/Resident, full access Account – Residents of Jefferson Township*, Wayne Co., Indiana are eligible for a free account. First-time cards are free. Replacements for lost cards cost $2. A resident, full access account allows you to borrow materials from the Hagerstown Public Library as well as all libraries that are part of the Evergreen Indiana consortium. All libraries within Wayne and Henry County are Evergreen Libraries where you can use your card, and there are other Evergreen libraries through out the state. Individuals with resident accounts may also borrow downloadable books from the eIndiana Digital Consortium, called Libby and use the digital services available on Hoopla and Kanopy. Full-access accounts must be renewed every two years at no charge.
  2. Green Card/Non-resident, full access account – Individuals residing outside of Jefferson Township but within Wayne County should obtain a library card from the home library for their individual township. We are able to facilitate getting a Morrison-Reeves library card and a Cambridge City library card for their patrons and this card can be used to borrow items at the Hagerstown library. You are subject to the digital borrowing guidelines of your home library.
  3. The PLAC Card (Or Public Library Access Card) – The annual application fee is $70. This is a statewide library card program that allows you to borrow materials from any public library in the state. It is valid for exactly one year from the date of purchase and cannot be prorated or discounted. To purchase a PLAC, you must already have a valid “home” library card from your local public library in good standing. You must present your PLAC—along with your home library card or ID—on your initial visit to any participating Indiana public library to set up borrowing privileges there.
