Summer in the Library Makes SE:NCE – Imagine Your Story

We are excited to announce that we are kicking off our Summer Reading Program, Imagine Your Story. The program will run from May 26th – July 25th and will feature a number of virtual activities and programs as well as encouraging reading. This program is going to function very differently than it ever has before in the library, given the necessity to maintain social distance and continuing to consider the health and well-being of our community. With this in mind, we want to provide a brief explanation of how things are going to work this year – and if you have any questions at all, please reach out to our library staff for additional information and clarifications.

You can register to participate in summer reading at: https://forms.gle/trCFyH54oh8hy39r8

After you have registered, please come to the library to pick up your Starter Pack with a few goodies to get things started.

Participating readers can log time spent reading this year using the READsquared website and app. You can sign in to the site to participate at: http://hagerstown.readsquared.com/

Every badge earned on READsquared will be an entry earned into the live drawings that will happen at the End of Summer Reading Ceremony to take place on July 25th. We have a variety of prizes that will be given away to each age group, as we have in the past, as well as a few Grand Prizes. all winners to be announced at the live drawing to occur on July 25th.

Each week we will feature a variety of virtual storytimes and programs that can be participated in over Facebook Live or Zoom. Participation in these events will also earn Badges. There will also be a variety of STEAM Projects, Crafts and activity packets that will be available to “Take & Make” and we encourage all Patrons to take pictures to share over social media – and be sure to tag the library!! We want to see what you create!

We do recognize that not every patron has access to the internet, for those patrons we will have the paper “reading logs” where the amount of time read can still be recorded by the patron and then logs submitted for time counted to earn tickets towards prizes at the end of the summer as well.

This summer, reading and sharing stories and experience is especially important for all of us and we hope to see lots of people in our community taking part in this program. We want you to Imagine Your Story!
