Summer in the Library – 2021 Program Tails & Tales
June 1 – July 10, 2021
So many fun events in the library and around our community. Be a part of Summer Reading by registering and reading! We have fabulous prizes for you as you read and special tickets give you the chance to win some great prizes!
You can register to participate in summer reading at: 2021 Tails & Tales
Or visit the library for a paper registration form. Once registered, you can choose to log time spent reading this year with a paper reading log or by using the READsquared website & app.
As you progress through your reading log, you will gain rewards and tickets that can be used towards Grand Prize drawings at the end of the summer program, on July 10th.
We have special Storytimes at HPL (on Tuesdays at 10:30am) and at the Hagerstown Park on Turnpike Road (on Thursdays at 10:30am). There are special activities at HPL on Saturday mornings from 10:30 to noon.
As you wander through town you can read FROM HEAD TO TOE with your family as part of our StoryWalk®. This wonderful book by Eric Carle explores different animals and things they do––can you do it too? Grab a map from HPL or participating businesses and read the 12 page-spreads as you stop at the windows of local businesses. There are even purple footprints to help you along your way! If you use the camera on your smart phone, you can capture the QR code to find the words for a special question. Put them in order to make the question, and you can pick a special prize at the library!
Friday night’s through June come for the Moonlight Family Movies outside the library with seating across the street at Miller Park. Family activities are available at 8 pm, and the movie starts at dusk. The Hagerstown Marching Band will have concessions available as a fund raiser including popcorn & cotton candy!
Each week we offer “Take & Make” craft projects to take home and complete together and new virtual storytimes “It’s time for a Story” each Friday. We will offer 3 new STEAM projects for you to try!
Take pictures when you complete the crafts, steam or StoryWalk® and share them on social media – and be sure to tag the library!! We want to see the fun and what you create!
