The Historic(ally Awesome) Hagerstown – Jefferson Township Library, a Class C public library, in Hagerstown, Indiana seeks an energetic, intelligent, creative, compassionate, and qualified individual to serve as its next Library Director.

About Hagerstown – Jefferson Township Library

(aka Hagerstown Library and/or Hagerstown Public Library)

Hagerstown Library was a gift from the Charlie Teetor family in 1928 to the people of Hagerstown.  It is located in the heart of a charming, rural Indiana town and enjoys close proximity to Main Street, Town Hall,  the beautiful Dr. William Miller Memorial Park, the Fire Department, and Hagerstown Elementary School. Over the years, the Library has expanded both in size and service to provide ever improving service for the approximately 3500 people of Jefferson Township (including Hagerstown) and beyond.  Today, the Library’s fantastic staff of 7 (3 full-time and 4 part-time) maintain and facilitate access to the roughly 33,000 books, videos, and other materials including a circulating board game collection, ukuleles, and canning equipment. Hagerstown BOUND (a community writing project), HAK Club (a tabletop game group for upper elementary students), the Hagerstown Digital Memory Initiative, and 1000 Books Before Kindergarten are just a few of the exciting projects Hagerstown Library offers to the community.  Hagerstown Library is a member of Evergreen Indiana, a consortium with 118 member libraries from around the State of Indiana. The Library is also a member of the eIndiana Digital Consortium, a group of 80+ Indiana libraries offering a joint collection of downloadable materials.

By combining the concepts of traditional, professional librarianship with core values of community mindedness and innovation, Hagerstown Library continually aims to offer an exceptional experience for everyone who enters its physical or digital doors.
