Hello Night Owls! Welcome to an hour of talking books with other readers. My name is Jennifer, I’ll be moderating our discussions, and I’m looking forward to hearing all about what you are reading.
As we get started, one quick rule for this this online book club because this is a different sort of platform for a book club to take place. Please keep all discussion civil and polite!
So, who are you reading? Lemonade Day Kick-Off
On Wednesday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m., the Hagerstown Library will host a kick-off event for the 2013 Lemonade Day. All kids, 5-17 years old, are invited to participate. Each individual who registers to participate in this year’s Lemonade Day on May 5th, will receive a free backpack with Lemonade Day essentials. There will also be a short story, pictures with the Lemonhead (Lemonade Day mascot), and a “Make Your Own” Lemonade Bar where you can learn different ways to make lemonade.
Lemonade Day is a national youth entrepreneur initiative that began with a pet turtle that led to one lemonade stand. Now, Lemonade Day has expanded to 36 cities in America and Canada and has over 150,000 kids participating. Lemonade Day began, in 2007, when Michael Holthouse, a Richmond, Indiana native, had a vision to empower today’s youth to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs through helping them start, own and operate their very own business…a lemonade stand.
This year, with the help of partners like Google, Lemonade Day will bring this entrepreneurial experience to 1 million kids in 100 cities and towns across America including Hagerstown, Indiana. Find out more about Lemonade Day at the official website and join the event on our Facebook Page.
